Things Are Looking Up!

Sometimes when life feels blah, the universe throws you a bone. And it just threw me a nice fat one! I just won $250 worth of art on Art Space. Isn’t that genius? Gloria wrote a post about the contest on her lovely blog, I entered, and voila! A lovely new piece of art for my abode. Thanks, Gloria!

It was tough for me to decide on a piece but I finally settled on fashion photographer, Pamela Hanson’s Chelsea Hotel. I find it hopeful. Here’s a girl balancing precariously on a beam atop the Chelsea Hotel and what is she clutching onto? Balloons. Hope. A little symbol of happiness and light. That’s exactly what I’m doing these days.

Flying Carpet

Using an aerial shot of the Sacremento River, digital artist Seyed Alavi weaved it into carpet at the Sacremento International Airport. How fun! (Unless you are scared of heights. In which case, what horrors!)

Dancing in Slow Motion

Ballet is all about heart and technique. And this video of two dancers from Staatsballett Berlin sloooooows it all down for us at 1000 frames a second. Add in a little Radiohead and voila. Thought we all could use a little beauty on this Monday morning.

Happy Monday, Darlings

Hello friends! How was your weekend? I had such a lovely weekend. On Friday, Ottawa got pummulled with freezing rain so I got to work from home in my pajamas. And then. The theatre. My sister got my tickets to see Svengali at the National Arts Centre so we cabbed over and took our seats. The storyline was kinda sad but the dancing! Oh I love dance. I love love love that these amazing human beings can do such amazing things with their bodies and make it look like it’s no big deal. “Ah it’s no big deal that I’m flying through the air.” “Meh. I do pirouettes all the time.” Whaaaat? Seriously. I need more dance in my life.

I spent Saturday chilling out with my sister, gabbing about life and love with a glass of wine in hand. (It was a sister weekend!!) And of course there was plenty of Althea time –  chasing that cute kid around as she scooted herself across the floor. Oh yes! There’s motion now! And so many smiles! Love that kid.

In other news…I finally took down my Christmas tree. Can you believe it took me this long? Dear lord. I’m kind of embarassed. But I’m also kinda proud that I got it down before February.

Spooning

Remember how my Nanny gave me these spoons? I love them so very much but didn’t know what exactly to do with them until my sister sent me pictures from this house tour. Problem solved! I’m totally replicating this in my house. The question now is….where to put them?
