I just finished watching the HBO mini-series Mildred Pierce. Lordy! Amazing series. And a great cast too: Kate Winslet as Mildred Pierce, a down and out single mother in the 30s with a culinary dream, Rachel Evan Wood as Pierce’s snobby daughter, and Guy Pierce as an aristocrat that seduces Pierce. Rachel blew me away in her role as Pierce’s daughter, Vida. She played the part so well. Vida is by far the queen of manipulation. A beautiful child, with a beautiful talent. How could someone so gifted do such ugly things? Like her mother, you find yourself forgiving the unforgivable things that Vida does but then….she just goes too far and you find yourself yelling at the tv “Oh no you didn’t!” Oh yes, yes she did. Go and watch it! Seriously.
Sounds wonderful…can’t wait to see it.
